Travis Kelce Confirms He Can’t Join Taylor Swift at the Grammys and Discusses Their Relationship Timeline
Travis Kelce appeared on The Pat McAfee Show this afternoon, where he gave surprisingly candid comments about his relationship with Taylor Swift. Kelce confirmed reports that he will not be able to join Swift at the Grammys this Sunday because the Kansas City Chiefs are busy preparing for the Super Bowl. Swift is up for six awards.
“I wish I could go support Taylor at the Grammys and watch her win every single award that she’s nominated for, but I think I got practice on Sunday....Unfortunately I’ve got to get ready for this big ol’ Super Bowl we have in a week,” he said, via The Messenger.
He also addressed their real relationship timeline, confirming when he publicly invited Swift to attend one of his games on September 21, the couple had privately agreed before that she would go. Kelce and Swift started dating in late July; she first attended his game on September 24.
“Yeah, we had known each other close to a month up to that point,” he said of when he gave her the public invite. “It wasn’t just an out of the blue, ‘hey, come to the game.’”
Regarding all that has happened to him in the last year, including dating Swift, Kelce said, “It was exciting for me, but it was all brand new, man. I couldn’t tell you—from having the paparazzi following me every single day into work to everyone having my name on their talk show whether it’s sports, whether it’s not sports, it’s been a crazy, crazy ride that I could’ve never anticipated but I’m having fun with it.”
“The majority of the world is having fun with it outside the cranky NFL fans who just don’t want to see the Chiefs win,” he added. “And you know what? We’re slowly reeling them in. They’re fighting it right now."
With them as a pair generally, “It’s a beautiful thing, isn’t it?” Kelce said. “And then hopefully everyone realizes that we’re just two people in a relationship supporting each other and having fun with it, man. It’s nothing more than that as much as the world wants to paint the picture and make us the enemy, we just have fun with it. We enjoy every single bit of it. And sure enough, I love it when Taylor comes to support me and enjoys the game with the fam and friends. It’s been nothing than just a wonderful year, man.”
Swift and Kelce don’t talk about the hate they’ve gotten either. “She’s dealt with it forever [the attention and haters],” Kelce said. “And we hear it but we hardly ever talk about it. It’s nothing to even talk about, nothing to even bring up.” Listen to Kelce talk about Swift in the clips below:
