American TV network Lifetime has released the first trailer for A Tale of Two Coreys, a film based on the adolescent rise and fall of child stars Corey Haim and Corey Feldman.

Haim and Feldman became friends in the 1980s after both had embarked upon careers in Hollywood. Feldman started acting when he was three, while Haim broke into the industry at 10. The pair met in 1986, after Haim called Feldman up before both were due to star in The Lost Boys, a film that would secure their stardom.

It was the beginning of a friendship that offered both teens support in an adult world, but the pair also enabled each other's vices: within two years, both were taking drugs heavily, with Haim later admitting this was the starting point of his addiction.

The trailer for A Tale of Two Coreys suggests that this will occupy much of the narrative of the Lifetime film. However, the movie also shows an even darker side of Hollywood that, since the pair embarked upon reality show The Two Coreys in 2007, both have discussed: an alleged paedophile ring within the film industry that preyed on young stars including Haim and Feldman.

Haim died in 2010, destitute, alone and after decades of struggling with drug addiction. Feldman has continued to share his experiences of abuse since, and met with controversy as a result. But never named the men that reportedly assault him and Haim.

The Lifetime film casts Elijah Marcano and Scott Bosely as Feldman and Justin Ellings and Casey Leach as Haim. It will be released on January 6 in the US.
