TOWIE's Amber Turner on secret health battle after finding a lump in her breast
The Only Way Is Essex star Amber Turner has shared a concerning health update regarding her breast implants.
In an exclusive interview with The Sun, the 30 year old reality star revealed that one of her implants has ruptured, causing silicone to leak into her lymph nodes. The issue first came to light for Amber while filming for TOWIE in Bali.
Concerned after discovering a lump in her armpit, she sought medical attention upon her return to the UK. After consulting with her doctor, Amber learned that her implant had split, with silicone leaking into her lymph nodes.
She expressed shock at the diagnosis, stating: “He said it looked like the implant had ruptured and the silicone was leaking into the lymph node. I only had these [implants] for a couple of years and I will need to get the implants changed. They are not meant to rupture.”
Reflecting on possible causes, Amber speculated that an altercation during her time on Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins, particularly a scuffle with Gareth Gates, could have contributed to the implant rupture. Sharing her initial fears upon discovering the lump, Amber admitted to worrying about the possibility of breast cancer.
She shared: “When I was in Bali on the phone to my mum I was holding my boob and I said: ‘I’ve got a lump under my armpit’. I thought, 'This is going to be it. I am going to have breast cancer.’ I am relatively healthy and I am never sick. But I was feeling really negative.”
Amber's experience will be documented on an upcoming episode of TOWIE, where she aims to raise awareness about breast health and the importance of self-examination. She hopes that by sharing her story, she can help others who may be facing similar concerns.
Following further medical assessments, Amber shared her relief upon learning that the lump is not cancerous and is determined to undergo surgery to replace the ruptured implant.
She added: “It was a sigh of relief. He checked both to make sure there was nothing nasty in there. After the series finishes I am going to have an appointment and I will need implants changed.”
She added: “I am relieved it is not breast cancer. When I told the girls they were in shock. I didn’t want to tell them until I knew. I taught the girls how to check their breasts properly for lumps. If it helps one or two people then I’m glad to raise awareness
“Say I had left it a couple of months and it was cancer. It would have been a couple of months along…
“You are supposed to check down the arm and down underneath your arm pit. I am happy and relieved. The doctor said no immediate worry and the silicone isn’t toxic.”
