Top models feature in Star Wars-inspired editorial
As part of its 150th anniversary issue, Harper’s Bazaar US teamed up with Lucasfilm to put together a Star Wars-inspired editorial with some of the world’s top models.
Kendall Jenner, Bella and Gigi Hadid, Kaia Gerber and Taylor Hill all star in the feature. The models pose in front of iconic backgrounds from the original Star Wars trilogy that have been illustrated by Brian Rood, who has done work on multiple Star Wars projects.
“[The editors] went through some of the storybooks that I had done and picked out some of their favourite iconic scenes from the Star Wars films, with backgrounds everybody felt familiar with that you’ve seen a million times, and they had a list of the models in those scenes that they wanted with the outfits they wanted,” Rood said of the collaboration. “You know, kind of replace Luke with Kendall Jenner. So that’s kind of how that evolved.”
The Hadid sisters’ shoot was inspired by The Empire Strikes Back, as was Gerber’s, while Jenner and Hill’s illustrations were from A New Hope.
