Tom Hanks and Robin Wright reunite on screen for first time since Forrest Gump
It's 30 years since Tom Hanks and Robin Wright starred in the Oscar-winning film Forrest Gump, and now the two actors have reunited for the first time on screen in ambitious new film, Here.
On 25 October, Tom and Robin attended the world premiere screening of Here in Hollywood, California. Of the actors' reunion, Tom said: "We just picked up right where we left off. I'm going to say we love each other because we're so easy with each other. It was a luxury to be able to come in and get the same conversations we've been having for the last 30 years."
Described as "a generational story about families and the special place they inhabit, sharing in love, loss, laughter, and life," the film is shot from one fixed position and shows all the inhabitants of one particular spot of land in New England, America over millennia, from when dinosaurs and indigenous people occupied the space to a house being built in the early 1900s. As four different families make the house their home over time, we see births, deaths, weddings, Christmases and more all happen in the same living room.
Based on the comic book Here by Richard McGuire, the central storyline is that of Richard and Margaret, who are played by Tom and Robin. With the help of clever cinematic technology, the actors have been aged up and down throughout the film. Rounding out the cast is Paul Bettany, Michelle Dockery and Kelly Reilly. Not only is Here a reunion for Tom and Robin, the film reunites no less than 8 cast and crew members from 1994's Forrest Gump, which won six Academy Awards, including Best Picture. As well as Tom and Robin, director Robert Zemeckis, writer Eric Roth, cinematographer Don Burgess, composer Alan Silvestri, sound designer Randy Thom and costume designer Joanna Johnston are also all involved in the making of Here.
While Here had its US premiere on 25 October, the film won't be released in the UK until 17 January, so we've got a little while longer to wait to see it.
