David Hockney is widely thought of as one of the greatest artists of all time, and one of our favourite celebrity knitters Tom Daley has made a special one-off knitted vest to celebrate his work.

Sky Arts has launched a series of films called Celebrating David Hockney to mark the artist's incredible contribution to British culture. The first film aired on Monday 28 August and the second will be shown tonight (Tuesday 29 August) on Sky Arts and is also available on Freeview and NOW.

The films are presented and edited by Melvyn Bragg and explore the iconic artist's life and painting work.

To mark the films, former Olympic diver Tom Daley has created a special one-off knitted vest.

The keen knitter, who has also created pieces including a stripy purple jumper and knitted baby set, shared the tank top on his Instagram.

He shared a video of himself knitting the vest on his Made With Love Instagram page, as well as the finished piece, alongside the caption: "Sky Arts is celebrating David Hockney, one of Britain’s greatest living artists and a big inspiration of mine with four special programmes on 28 & 29 August, so I thought I’d get in on the fun…"

The V-neck vest, an homage to Hockney's swimming pool paintings, features a blue main body piece with navy ribbed collar and shoulder edging. Tom finished the garment by adding navy blue swirls to the main body and a thick white cuff at the bottom of the vest.

As well as the films, Sky Arts is celebrating David Hockney's painting with free creative classes across the UK, after research by Sky Arts revealed that almost half of adults don't have any art supplies at home.
