Tom Daley confirmed as host for exciting new TV show The Game Of Wool
Tom Daley has officially confirmed he will host brand new TV show, The Game Of Wool and fans couldn't be more excited.
Despite being best known for his skills in the Olympic swimming pool, the athlete has decided to turn his passion of knitting and crochet into a bigger project as he reveals he can't wait to host the new craft show.
Sharing the news on Instagram, Tom said in a video: "Hi everyone, Tom here. Now you know me, I love a bit of competition but lately, it's been less about the pool and more about the wool. So I am super excited to announce I am going to be hosting a brand new knitting competition show on Channel 4.
"So if you live in the UK and you love working with your needles as much as I do then you should apply right now. I am so excited to see what everyone can create. And after all, let's get knitting!"
And of course, the news was received well by his thousands of followers who can't wait to see Tom on the screen doing what he loves the most.
Excited, and keen to apply, one fan called @snazzy.mj commented: "So excited for the show and that Tom will be hosting!!! an amazing knitter would be over the moon to meet him there if I get through."
Another user @honey2coco said: "Fabulous news! Well done Tom."
So what do we know about The Game Of Wool so far? It's a crafty competition that will see 10 ambitious knitters take on a series of complex challenges in an attempt to become the UK's first TV knitting competition. You can find out how to apply here – you have until midnight on 5 January 2025.
The series will be filmed in countryside of rural Scotland, and each episode will sees the competitors tackle two challenges: ‘The Big Knit’ where they’ll be working together in teams, as well as ‘The Wee Knit’ where they’ll work on individual tasks.
Di Gilpin, owner of The Scottish Wool Company, and knitting designer Sheila Greenwell have also been confirmed as judges. No start date has been revealed yet – but we'll keep you posted as soon as we hear.
