This tiramisu drawer trend is so ridiculous but we want a slice

Deep in the midst of Instagram and TikTok, we stumbled upon a food idea that made our eyes widen with excitement and jaws drop.

The idea being quite ridiculous and very much social media driven, but one we can't stop thinking about.

Enter: the tiramisu drawer.

It's a trend that's been around for a while and it really is as it sounds. A whole tiramisu, dreamed up and filled into an entire drawer in a refrigerator (cleaned out and well sanitised, of course).

It was first seen at fresh pasta bar, Onda up in Manchester and since then, it has had over 24 million views after it was posted on their Instagram page.

We're sure it's a very practical (and smart) decision for the restaurant, considering the amount of tiramisu orders they're likely receiving each night, but it seems people have also been inspired and are trying it at home, in a regular fridge, using an empty plastic drawer and filling it with the deliciously creamy Italian dessert. Does anyone need this much tiramisu?

Hard to credit but tiramisu was once seen as a 90s dessert staple. It's now considered a classic crowd pleaser, here to stay, and being reinvented in different ways, and it isn't going away anytime soon.

And this couldn't be more true, with brands like Lindt revealing their latest Christmas flavour is tiramisu inspired.

Feeling inspired to give it a try yourself? Here's hoping that you, and your dinner party guests, finish it all before it spoils... (Our cookery writer reckons tiramisu lasts about three days in the fridge.)

And if this drawer trend seems like too much work, just stick to the good old classic tiramisu recipe in a regular baking dish.
