Miley Cyrus shared a picture of Cody's head in her crotch to mark his birthday

Miley Cyrus and Cody Simpson's relationship took literally everyone by surprise and quickly went from zero to 60, with the Australian singer hinting he was already in love just weeks after they started dating.

Clearly smitten, the pair have also never been shy about sharing how much they're into each other on social media. But just in case you missed some of their PDA-heavy pics, we've gathered together all the biggest moments from the friend-turned-lovers' relationship in the timeline below, starting with the most recent update.

January 11 2020: Cody Simpson turned one year older and Miley was sure to lavish lots of love on her man in the most Miley way ever. Y'know, like posting a picture of Cody with his head in her crotch.

"Happy birthday to my best friend in the entire world @codysimpson," the singer wrote alongside the snap. "I love you and our pirate life!"

As well as that public declaration of love, she also posted a video of them dancing while wearing face masks because well, Miley and Cody. And when it came to gifts, she gave her boyfriend a personalised bag with 'Prince Neptune' written on it. Happy birthday, Cody!

October 5 2019: After being spotted on a number of dates around LA in as many days, Cody shared a very intimate snap of him planting a kiss on Miley's head - and just like that the pair became Instagram official. "Pre swim breakfast courtesy of baby," he wrote. Miley then followed it up with a pic of herself blowing a kiss to camera, which she captioned "BABY".

October 8 2019: Miley stunned fans when she casually referred to long-time friend Cody as her boyfriend in a snap she shared to Instagram. The singer was in hospital while being treated for tonsillitis and posted a selfie, which she captioned: "BF coming to visit me at the hospy." That's one way to spread the news.

October 12 2019: Just a few days later, Cody officially confirmed the pair are dating. "I’m very happy," he shared at a launch in Los Angeles. "We are very, very happy. … We just have a ball, yeah, and that’s the most important part of a relationship, you know?"

"Any girlfriends I've had in the past has always been immediate romance and so it's a different experience having been friends with somebody before and it developing naturally into something more," he explained.

October 21 2019: Cody appeared on Sydney’s Nova 96.9’s Fitzy & Wippa radio show and was asked how their friendship turned into a romance. "I told her I used to kiss the TV screen," he shared. "She was the only one I ever felt like that about at that age. I had a crush ever since I knew who she was." He continued: "I’ve been in love [with her] since I was nine years old."

When asked if he had really fallen for her, Cody responded: "I think it’s too early to say that, but she’s definitely one of the most amazing people I’ve had in my life. I’ve always felt that way and for her and I’ve always admired her so much."

October 31 2019: The pair go all out for Halloween and share a ton of snaps of their outfits. The first upload was a shot of the 'Wrecking Ball' singer doing Cody's make-up as he transformed into rock icon Billy Idol. "Makin up my man into baby billy idol!" Miley, who went as dancer and Billy's girlfriend Perri Lister, captioned it.

She followed it up with a video of the pair lip-synching and dancing to Billy Idol's 'White Wedding', which she sweetly captioned: "My Idol." And if anyone was unsure of how well their relationship is going at the point, the couple also posted a shot of their outfits from the back, which together read: "4 Ever." That and six grid posts = relationship bliss.

November 4 2019: The pair reach another major relationship milestone when Miley invited Cody to her hometown in Tennessee to spend time with the family and attend her brother Braison's wedding.

November 18 2019: It's claimed the two musicians were taking a break but were still on friendly terms, with a source claiming Miley "said she just needs to focus on herself".

However, E! News rubbished the report. "Miley and Cody saw each other last week when he visited her in Tennessee. They are fine and are still dating," a source told the site. "Miley has been resting from her vocal surgery but has been in touch and seen Cody recently."

The insider went on: "Miley always made it clear to Cody that she likes to have freedom and he always understood the dynamic of the relationship".

November 20 2019

Cody puts to bed the split rumours in a most excellent way - he shared a grab of his screensaver, which shows an angelic young Miley beaming into the camera. Cute!

December 1 2019: Miley and Cody spend Thanksgiving dinner together, two months after confirming they're an item. A source tells E!, "Cody came out to Nashville for Miley's birthday and stayed for Thanksgiving. Miley's family loves Cody and was happy to have him stay. They all celebrated the holiday together at Miley's family house.

"Everyone gets along very well and Miley's siblings have welcomed Cody in. Their relationship is fun and easy. He's one of the crew."

Noah Cyrus shared a photo of the occasion on Instagram, and yep, Cody and Miley are there:

December 18 2019: Miley Cyrus and Cody Simpson have filed legal documents requesting ownership of the name Bandit And Bardot - and fans think it might be for a band.

While there's no clear hints at what Bandit and Bardot could be for - clothing? Music? Fizzy water? - the pair have already set up an Instagram account for the name, and TMZ say, if approved, the trademark would cover everything from live entertainment services to a website focused on live concerts, and recordings.

Previously, Cody opened up about how much he'd like to collaborate on new music with Miley. "Yeah definitely," he told MailOnline. We're looking at it. We are getting all the songs down and then seeing who would make sense for what.

"It's going to be cool. It's going to be pretty much a rock album. A lot of guitar. Working on a project at the moment and recording throughout the holidays and should have an album out next year."

December 23 2019: Cody Simpson's sister Ali denied the singer and Miley have split. ICYMI, rumours were rife the pair had broken up after Cody was spotted with model Jordy Murray in New York. Meanwhile, Miley had shared her song 'My Sad Christmas Song' on social media along with a message about being lonely over the festive period.

"A sad Christmas song I wrote a few years back right before the holidays. Was feeling like sh-t cause I couldn’t be with the one I loved. Even with a house full of family and friends I still felt alone," Miley wrote. "If you feel lonely this season just know YOU ARE COMPLETELY MADE OF MAGIC! You are as special as a snowflake, beautifully unique and I hope inside your soul feels light, hope, peace, and joy knowing how singularly amazing YOU are! Love always wins!"

Well, this all led to fans speculating that the pair had broken up, but Cody's sister later confirmed the couple are still together. "Yes, [they're] together for sure," she told the Daily Mail.

So, yeah, it looks like they're still together (N.B. We haven't actually heard anything from Miley or Cody themselves... yet).
