There’s something about a chopped salad that just tastes better than a regular one. The smaller pieces make getting more toppings and dressing easier in one bite. However, chopping up all of the ingredients into teeny-tiny pieces takes time. Luckily, TikTok found a hack: “Salad scissors.”

All you have to do is put your lettuce and other toppings in a bowl, then chop them together using the scissors. TikTok especially loves the Trudeau Toss and Chop Salad Tongs, but unfortunately, they’re currently sold out. However, these Toss and Chop Salad Tongs from GravityProductsLK on Amazon are pretty much the same thing. Because they have two sets of blades, and the bottom blades have a plastic guard over a rounded bottom, they won’t scratch your bowls, either.

“The famous TikTok salad scissors!” wrote one Amazon reviewer. “These salad scissors are the truth! I just put everything in a large mixing bowl and start cutting. It chops everything up very finely. I’m kicking myself for not ordering these sooner! Salads are so much better when everything is cut into smaller pieces.”

In my own experience using salad scissors, I’ve found it’s best to at least chop your tomatoes (especially the little cherry ones) in half before using them, or they squirt everywhere. Additionally, if you chop some of your other larger veggies up just a bit beforehand, it is easier to chop them with the rest of the salad in the bowl.

If you like your salad to be cut up into extremely little pieces, like @bakedbymelissa’s viral green goddess salad, TikTok also likes this Herb Scissor Set. It has four sets of blades for chopping herbs and other ingredients into very tiny pieces, and it comes with a cleaning comb for getting all your ingredients off the blades and into the bowl.

In reality, you could probably use your regular kitchen shears to make a chopped salad. But these salad scissors have multiple blades to chop even faster, and the blade guards can protect your dinnerware. Hey, anything to make meal prepping easier, right?
