This Is How Many Days You Actually Work Per Week

If someone asked you how your week at work had been your answer would probably range from somewhere between ‘busy’ to ‘I-had-to-ration-my-loo-trips manic’.

But new research suggests that both answers are probably wrong and we actually work nowhere near as hard as we think we do.

A study by HSS Hire has revealed that British office workers are only actually productive three days per week.

But, on the rare and treasured occasions when the weather gets hotter, this drops to just two and a half days.

The research followed 2000 people’s working habits and measured which factors were most disruptive to their day.

Bad sleep came top of the list, followed by being too hot in the office. On average, workers agreed that 27 degrees was the level at which it became too hot to work.

Surprisingly, feeling rough after a boozy night came fairly low down the list.

This is the full list of things that stop us getting stuff done.

Top 10 factors that make us unproductive:

1. Bad sleep

2. Being too hot at work

3. Colleagues distracting us by talking too much

4. IT problems

5. Noisy office

6. Boredom

7. Being distracted by personal issues

8. Feeling too hungry

9. Being too cold in the office

10. Drinking too much the night before

This seems like all the more reason to declare a national holiday on the rare occasions when the UK sees a bit of sun. Or just create a Monday - Wednesday working week. Either’s fine.
