This Clever Wristband Will Tell You When It’s Time To Stop Drinking

Now you don’t need a friend to tell you when it’s time to go home, your wristband will do it for you [Photo: Giphy]

You know the drill. A ‘just-the-one’ post-work pinot quickly becomes 2, 3, 4… before you know it you’re on the shots and contemplating dancing on the bar. *Face palm* If only you had something that would stop you before things got way, way out of hand.

Well, funny you should mention that, as there is now a clever new gadget that will tell you to stop drinking before the night takes a messy turn.

It won’t come as any surprise that when alcohol levels rise, sensibility flies right out the window. Along with your judgement about just how drunk you’re really getting. ‘jjuss one mmore…?’ Sound familiar?

The genius wristband is called BACtrack Skyn and measures the levels of ethanol escaping through your skin, alerting you when those levels reach a certain limit. And therefore saving you from morning after regret.

When you’re out drinking, you can check the band to see an up-to-date reading of your Blood Alcohol Concentration. But even if you don’t think to check the band, you can program it to send notifications when you’ve reached a certain BAC. So you’ll know its time to step away from the Sambuca and sidle off home to bed.

People are so impressed with the wristband, it has even won an award from the National Institute of Health.

Sadly the gadget isn’t for sale yet, but designers are hoping to release it later this year. Just in time for those Christmas parties, maybe. Sign up to the website to keep up to date on its availability.

So long hangovers!
