Another day another breastfeeding picture causing a stir. This time it’s a photo that a mum shared to Facebook of her tandem breastfeeding her own child alongside a stranger’s, which she claims lead to her account being temporarily ‘disabled’.

Earlier this week mum-of-six Rebecca Wanosik, from Missouri posted a lengthy explanation about how the shot came about.

“I received a random text from one of my friends asking if I could feed a strangers baby,” she wrote. “Was there ever a question? The baby’s mother was having surgery and the baby is exclusively breastfed and refused a bottle. When the baby arrived you could tell she was hungry and exhausted and just needed some milk. I did what I hope any person would do for my child in a time of despair. I fed a strangers baby.”

Expressing her surprise at how many people found breastfeeding someone else’s child weird or unnatural, she went on to defend her decision to wet nurse.

“They are boobs, they are meant to feed babies,” she continued. “Also, in case anyone forgot, they are mine, so I’m fairly certain I choose what happens with them. Regardless, I took an amazing photo tandem nursing these two babies together and it shows that hungry babies don’t care, they just need to be fed,” she finished her post.

Since posting the picture and accompanying caption was shared more than 82K times, but the mum claims her Facebook account was temporarily disabled after the post was widely shared.

“GUESS WHO’S BACCCCCK! Now shut up and let me feed the babies!” she joked as she announced the return to her account before going on to defend her decision to post the image.

“If you don’t like it, don’t look,” she wrote. “If you’re incapable of seeing this at face value for what it is, don’t look. And to clear up any misconceptions here are some FPC (Frequently Publicised Concerns). I did NOT just pick up a baby on the side of the road that looked hungry. I had permission from the other child’s mother to post the photos. The other mother and I have a mutual friend who knew enough about me to know I could safely feed her baby. I’m disease free. Unless being a badass is actually contagious? But after recent events I’d assume not. I did what any compassionate woman should have done. Period.”

She also addressed some concern that she’d ‘faked’ her account being suspended.

“No I didn’t fake my account being disabled, I have six children. Ain’t nobody got time for that,” she said before going on to thank people for offering their support.

Facebook told The Huffington Post UK that they are currently investigating the matter.
