Last night saw Buckingham Palace lit up with Indian motifs to celebrate the beginning of the UK-India Year of Culture.

A reception held by the Queen and Prince Philip saw guests from the country mix with other royals including William and Kate.

Although the event was held to mark India’s 70th anniversary of independence, the Duchess did not choose an Indian designer. Instead, she wore a shimmering midi-length dress by British label Erdem as part of a look that cost around £1500.

The design, which has never been seen on her before, featured a pleated skirt and semi-sheer sleeves all in a metallic silver-hued lace.

The Kate effect has unfortunately struck again as the understated yet still glamorous cocktail dress is now sold out everywhere (though it would have cost you £910).

Kate paired the look with equally sparkling heels by Oscar de la Renta. The £590 platinum pumps can be yours if you’re quick.

Her hair was half pulled back into a loose effortless style with pearl earrings by Indian designer Anita Dongre topping it all off.
