When you’re in the middle of a snow storm, most of us would likely pile on the layers and huddle by the fire indoors. But not Leah Stanley. For when Storm Stella covered her garden in inches of snow, the blogger from Vermont decided to strip off and head out for an impromptu photoshoot IN HER BIKINI.

But there was a brilliant reason for Leah’s brrr-avery because the donned her two-piece to help deliver an important body-positive message to her 17K Instagram followers.

Sharing a couple of images of her dancing in her black and pink patterned bikini and having a jolly old time, Leah captioned the shot:

“See that weird thigh gap? Yup, it turns out we all have one, took #stormstella to find mine so #thankyoustella, for helping me find my TRUE thigh gap, without an hour of posing and arching and without crying and starving for carbs due to lack of them. I just put this bikini on and faced the storm, much like when I start to feel down. I don’t cower back and let my crazy thoughts take over, I face them. I think about why and what I can do to change it! I sure AF can’t change the storm, but I sure can embrace it, like I do this bikini!”

Since sharing the image has been liked a whopping XX times and received hundreds of comments from people praising the blogger for starting a conversation about self-acceptance and body positivity.

“Yessssssss!!!!!!! Adore this!!!!” wrote one fan.

“This is amazing. Seriously amazing,” added another.

Speaking to Yahoo Style about the reasons behind the images, Leah explained it was a spur of the moment decision to wear her two-piece in the snow.

“It’s 18 degrees now so I wore my robe outside and quickly tossed it to my husband right before he started taking photos. Everyone has a ‘bikini body,’ and should look forward to swim season.”

By sharing the image Leah hopes it will inspire self-conscious women to learn to love their bodies no matter their shape or size, just like she’s learnt to do.

“I’ve always been confident, even though I was body-shamed a lot in school,” she continued. “I quickly learned it has more to do with the bully than the person being picked on. So rather than let it get me down, I focus on just being me….We all have confidence within. It’s a matter of finding it and not holding back or worrying what society thinks.”

It’s a sentiment echoed in the second bikini shot and caption Leah shared.

“If I’m not being told I’m too fat to exist I’m told I’m being too sexy or classless and seeking attention,” she wrote.

“As a person I have the right to wear what I want, post what I want, and I have the right to stand my ground.”

“No matter what my end game is, your judgments and fat/body-shaming says so much more about you and your insecurities.”

She went on to urge her followers to come together to shut down the body-shamers.

“We need to stand together, overpower the bullies and haters with everything that makes them cringe. Which is why I continue to do what I do,” she wrote.

“Society needs to recheck their body standards, because HELLO we are all beautiful in our own ways. We all have a beach body, we can all wear shorts, tank tops or just whatever.”

Leah also encouraged her followers not to let remarks from strangers get you down.

“Be strong, fight for what you believe in, you’ll have more of a chance to make a difference than you will sitting quietly. Don’t let the haters get ya, they don’t deserve you!”
