Thailand Is Set To Be This Year's Must-Visit Spot, Thanks To 'The White Lotus' Season 3
You'd be forgiven for assuming that nobody in their right mind would want to indulge their senses at The White Lotus given its track record. Yet, a matter of weeks before the third season, which is set in Thailand, premieres, travel companies are already seeing an uptick in searches for Thai holidays.
According to a recent study by Travel Republic, which analysed 138,000 Google searches, 11 million TikTok posts, and 80 million Instagram posts, Thailand is now on track to become this year's ultimate holiday destination.

The upcoming series, which was filmed in different locations around Koh Samui, Phuket, and Bangkok, continues the show's riff on capitalism and elitism.
At Series Mania in March 2023, HBO's CEO Casey Bloys said that Mike White, the series' creator, had just pitched the idea for season three. 'It's great, a really fun idea,' Bloys said. In a later interview, Orsi shared the season is 'an exploration about spirituality versus the ego. And it's set against the Eastern religion.'
‘The first season kind of highlighted money, and then the second season is sex, and I think the third season, it would be a satirical and funny look at death and eastern religion and spirituality. And it feels like it could be a rich tapestry to do another round of White Lotus,’ the series' creator Mike White previously said in the Unpacking bonus feature that accompanied the season two finale on HBO Max in 2023.
While the cast is largely different, the third season of The White Lotus will still touch on the murder-for-hire plot involving Tanya Quaid's (Jennifer Coolidge) husband, Greg (Jon Gries), and her assistant, Portia (Haley Lu Richardson) from the series' sophomore season.
