Tess Daly's Strictly 'ban' as she reveals one thing she can't do during show
Tess Daly has been part of the Strictly line-up for an impressive 20 years so she's no stranger to the sometimes manic world of live telly. But in an interview about everything she's learnt on the BBC dance series, she revealed there's one thing she's not allowed to do, despite her being a presenting pro.
In a chat with Elle magazine, the mum of the two, who is married to radio host Vernon Kay, claimed she's not allowed to go anywhere near a glass of water for two hours before the camera rolls for the live Saturday night shows because she's not able to take a break during filming to go to the bathroom.
"I can't drink any water for two hours before the show," she said. "As we are live, there is just not enough time to get to the loo." She also revealed that the only time she was allowed to break the rule was when she was pregnant with her daughters, 20-year-old Phoebe and 14-year-old Amber, adding: "Oh no, that wouldn't have been possible. I was allowed to go then!".

Tess has been one of the main faces on the Saturday night shows for the last 20 years, but was familiar with working in front of the cameras long before then.
As well as booking modelling jobs across Asia and Europe early in her career, she also appeared in the music videos of Duran Duran's Violence of Summer and Serious tracks. Her first major TV gig in the UK was as host of Find Me a Model, which was then followed up with jobs on Smash Hits TV, SMTV Live, and Make Me a Supermodel with Dave Berry.
After replacing Ulrika Jonsson as a presenter on ITV's Home on Their Home makeover show in 2003, she then landed the role on Strictly alongside Sir Bruce Forsyth. Earlier this year she posted a lovely tribute to the late telly legend to celebrate the show's 20th anniversary.
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY @bbcstrictly. It's 20 years ago today since the first episode aired in 2004 with the legend Sir Bruce Forsyth (and I was pregnant then with Phoebe my eldest!)," she wrote alongside a picture with each of her co-hosts.
"We had no idea at that time it would go on for another two decades (and counting) and become a global hit in so many overseas territories (where the show is known as Dancing with The Stars)
"Forever grateful to be part of a show that feels so joyful and magical and to share that with the absolute GIFT that is @claudiawinkle #keepdancing."
