Tesco, Sainsbury's and Asda opening times for Christmas 2024

If you've attempted the joy of a supermarket car park in recent days, you'll know that the Christmas dash is in full swing. However, there are plenty of people who need to pop to the shops for everything from another bottle of booze to a last-minute turkey or a present for that relative you forgot was turning up.

However, the supermarkets are not necessarily going to be open at the times you're used to with the three most popular - Sainsbury's, Tesco and Asda - all cutting down their hours in many of their stores in the days before and after Christmas. Though in common with most UK retailers there will be nothing at all sold on the big day itself to give staff the day off.

Here we take a look at common opening hours across the big supermarket chains and how you can check the exact times your local branch is opening. We can't guarantee there'll be any wrapping paper left though...
