It's a disappointing feeling when you check out of your hotel and are well on your way to your next destination, just to realize you left something behind in your room.
Oof.
Most of us have been there, unintentionally gifting a phone charger or dirty laundry to a hotel at some point in our traveling. According to Hotels.com's recently published Hotel Room Innsights Report, more than a third of hotels surveyed said that guests leave stuff behind in their rooms on at least 25% of their stays.
However, housekeepers have also stumbled upon more unusual items forgotten by travelers when turning over a room. For the report, Hotels.com surveyed more than 400 partner hotels about the "astonishing items" left behind by guests – and some items will make you wonder about the stories behind them.
Do you want an early hotel check-in? Here's what is happening behind the scenes.
"Let's be honest: it's fascinating what guests leave behind," Melanie Fish, head of global public relations for Hotels.com, told USA TODAY in a statement. Some hotels even have special services like a checklist service to remind guests of key items when checking out, the report found. "And for the perpetually forgetful among us, there’s a hotel hero ready to go the extra mile to reunite us with those precious, irreplaceable items."
Below are some of the more unusual items forgotten by hotel guests, according to Hotels.com.
