Ted Lasso's Hannah Waddingham's scathing four-word response after Olivier Awards photographer's 'sexist' comment

Olivier Awards host Hannah Waddingham received a round of cheers and applause after she boldly stood up to a photographer who made an inappropriate comment on the red carpet - saying "don't be a d**k". The Ted Lasso star dazzled in a light purple sequined gown as she posed for photographs at the prestigious award show, held at London's Royal Albert Hall on Sunday.

In a video shared on X (formerly Twitter), Hannah was heard addressing a photographer in the crowd, although his exact words were unclear. She firmly responded: "Oh my God, you would never say that to a man. Don’t be a dick, otherwise I’ll move off. Just don’t say, 'show your leg,' no."

The actress's assertive stance was met with cheers and applause from onlookers as she gracefully left the red carpet and made her way towards the Royal Albert Hall. As she walked away, she added: “Have some manners.”

Having previously hosted the ceremony in 2023, the talented British singer and actress returned to the spotlight this year, kicking off the show with a captivating musical performance of Anything Goes. Hannah, renowned for her role as Richmond FC owner Rebecca Welton in the hit Apple TV+ comedy series Ted Lasso, has also graced screens in popular shows like Game of Thrones and Sex Education.

Her remarkable talent and charisma were further highlighted when she co-hosted last year's Eurovision Song Contest in Liverpool, earning her widespread acclaim as a national treasure. The actress recently stepped into royal shoes, taking over from Kate Middleton as the Godmother of Princess Cruise Line's latest ship, Sun Princess.

Following the announcement, the 49 year old actress revealed that the new role holds a special place in her heart due to a touching family connection to the marine industry.

As part of her duties, the Eurovision presenter will "christen" the new vessel as it readies for life on the open seas. She described the new gig as a "privilege and pleasure", and as the ship's Godmother, she'll be sending off 4,300 guests "on their way safely with a big hug".

"I couldn't believe I have been asked to be a ship Godmother," she gushed to People magazine. Hannah went on to say: "Having grown up around boats all my life and my grandfather was in the Atlantic Convoy in the Navy, to be asked to be a part of this beautiful honour is a 'pinch me' moment."

"I am also honoured to be in the esteemed company with previous Godparents to Princess Ships including Diana, Princess of Wales, Her Royal Highness The Princess of Wales Kate Middleton, Audrey Hepburn, Martha Stewart, and many others.", she said, reports the Mirror.

The Princess of Wales had previously christened one of the world's largest ships in 2013, just months before giving birth to Prince George.
