Country-singer-turned-pop-icon Taylor Swift’s appearance on the Academy of Country Music Awards in Tennessee last night (16 September) showed off another of her talents – as she styled her own hair and make-up, according to People.

Swift wore a Stella McCartney outfit of a glitzy burgundy turtleneck, tan trousers and black pumps as well as her trademark red lipstick with minimal make-up on her face and eyes. Her hair was pulled back into a slightly tousled low bun, with her fringe styled in loose waves.

The singer performed "Betty", a track from her latest album eFolklore, with an acoustic guitar. She took to the stage at Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville – one of three venues used as a base for the awards ceremony this year.

The 55th ACM Awards were hosted by Keith Urban – who performed alongside Pink – with appearances from Tim McGraw, Carrie Underwood and other much-loved country music stars.

Folklore was released earlier this year on 24 July, written and recorded during the pandemic lockdown.

Within one day of the release, Swift sold 1.3 million copies of the new album, according to her label, Republic Records. As well as the major sales feat, the singer broke the record for the biggest first-day album streams for a female artist, with 80.6 million total streams.

Continuing with her infamous penchant for including loved ones in her lyrics, the singer revealed earlier this year that the character’s names in “Betty” were inspired by the real-life names of Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds’ children – James, Inez and, yes, Betty.

The song opens with the line "Betty, I know where it all went wrong", and includes the later lines "You heard the rumors from Inez/ You can't believe a word she says" and "She said, 'James, get in, let's drive."
