Is tangerine the next hot colour trend?

In the fourth episode of our Decorate With Confidence video series, interior designer Sophie shows us how to transform our space with tangerine. Although it’s been a bit of a fringe colour, 'it’s growing in popularity, and we’re only going to see more of it,’ says Sophie.
This bold shade of orange instantly injects warmth and cosiness into a space, making it ideal for living rooms, especially when layering in tactile materials such as leather and natural timbers.
It is also very versatile – you can dial it up or down, whether its adding in earthy olive greens and ochres or creating a carnival colour palette with hot fuchsias and electric blues for a joyful, fun look. This is ideal for using in kitchens or dining areas when you want to create an uplifting space.
As tangerine is an energetic colour, it even works with more muted neutrals. Just be sure to ground it with some darker shades, such as charcoal, silver or jet black for a grown-up, sophisticated scheme. Alternatively, add it in as an accent colour through accessories. There are some great buys from the high street for you to add a playful pop to your table or sofa.
So give this optimistic, bold colour a try. Tangerine is coming!
