Even Meghan Markle has been seen sporting the style.

We went through a heavy ’90s fashion phase. We’ve breezed through the early 2000s trends. Now, I’m wondering what the next resurgence of trends from my youth (mid-2010s) will be.

There are a few styles that come to mind that ran that era, and they all fell under business casual in extremely non-conventional ways. Circle skirts, peplum tops, blazers layered over everything, and, of course, the cold shoulder. It appears that brands have picked the bare-shoulder top as their starting point for their 2010 resurgence because everywhere I turn, I’m seeing this off-the-shoulder style. Even Duchess Meghan Markle is revealing her clavicle, and once again, I’ve been influenced. I recently picked up the Open Edit Off-the-Shoulder Rib Sweater, and now I can’t stop wearing it.

The ribbed sweater comes in a warm tan fabric in sizes XS through XL. It has a stretchy rib fabric that hugs the body, a foldover neckline that falls off the shoulders, long sleeves, and a shorter length that stops at the hip.

This Open Edit top has quickly become a favorite in my wardrobe. The ribbed fabric gives me a flattering silhouette that accentuates my figure while also holding the off-the-shoulder drape in place, so I’m not constantly readjusting like with some of my other styles. It’s also super soft, not scratchy, and warm, making it a great option for cooler weather. I follow the care instructions closely because it gives the feeling that it will shrink and pill if not properly cared for, so I hand wash it and dry it flat.

The shoulder-baring top is also super versatile and can easily be dressed up or down. I’ve styled it casually with jeans and sneakers or more elevated with tan trousers, matching ankle boots, and a trench coat, complete with sunglasses, of course. Every time I wear it out, it garners compliments from friends and strangers. In fact, one of my friends liked it so much that she went out and bought the same top for herself.

If you want the top of the season, shop Open Edit’s Off-the-Shoulder Rib Sweater for $69 on Nordstrom.
