SZA is getting so much praise after appearing to admit she's had a BBL
R&B legend SZA (real name Solána Imani Rowe), who dropped a new album, SOS, earlier this month, is being praised across social media as listeners have cottoned on to certain lyrics – which seem to see the singer share that she has had some kind of cosmetic tweaks made to her body. Most notably, it appears, SZA is sharing with her fans that she has had a BBL (Brazilian butt lift), something many have speculated about in the past.
The apparent confession comes on not one but two tracks, too. On the titular song, SOS, SZA sings: "Talkin' I'm off the bench like Brady, I'm pressin' n***** like KD, it's up. Yeah, n****, it's up to me. Remind you of Dеlla Reese. So classic, that ass so fat, it look natural, it's not".
Then, on the song Conceited, she says, "I don't like nobody, I don't feel guilty about it. I just got my body done, ain't got no guilt about it. I just heard your opinion, I could've did without it".
Now, social media users are praising the musician for her apparent honesty, with many remarking on how refreshing it is to hear somebody in the public eye discuss changes they've made via the surgical or cosmetic enhancement route, as opposed to trying to deny having work done or chalk obvious changes up to their exercise routine, or diet.
(Let's be real: it's hardly a secret that many of Hollywood's biggest names have undergone various procedures, and that's 100%, totally their right - and if it makes them feel more empowered, go them. But oftentimes fans can be left feeling frustrated about the lack of transparency involved, which can also perpetuate unrealistic body ideals... which in itself is a whole different conversation. As is the pressure celebs, and women, in general face to maintain body type 'fads' or fashions.).
Popular Instagram account, @IGfamousbydana, run by Dana Omari, shared a post in praise of SZA, writing: "Take notes, celebs and influencers, this is all we want from you on this. We don't even need details (although they'd be appreciated), just a simple 'yep had some work done and I love it!' Would suffice." – and amassed over 13,000 likes in response.
Selling Sunset's Christine Quinn also commented saying, "We loveeee 😍😍😍", while another social media user said, "Haha she did sing on her first album about having no booty so i'm loving this plot continuation".
A third IGer took a slightly different stance, writing: "I think it's great when that transparency is there and shows people the truth about plastic surgery, but I don't believe every person who gets work done owes the world that."
Meanwhile, a fourth commented with, "I'm just so sad she felt this was necessary" (which again, could also be an entirely different article).
No matter your stance, we admire SZA's honesty in this instance and are obsessed with the new album.
