Swarovski Fetes New Fifth Avenue Flagship, Skims Collaboration With Kim Kardashian, Gwyneth Paltrow, Emma Roberts and More

Stars descended upon Fifth Avenue on Tuesday night to celebrate the opening of Swarovski’s new flagship, as well as the jeweler’s collaboration with Skims.

Gwyneth Paltrow, Emma Roberts, Ashley Graham and Cynthia Erivo were among the guests dripping in crystals. Many opted for skintight dresses and catsuits from the bedazzled clothing line, while others accessorized with Swarovski x Skims body chains.

“The brightness, the joyfulness, the sound of the jewels, it takes your paranoia away, which is so good in this moment, a very tough reality,” said fashion editor Anna Dello Russo.

For supermodel Jasmine Tookes, the event evoked memories of her Victoria’s Secret days — specifically, when she was selected to wear the coveted Fantasy Bra. Eddie Borgo’s handcrafted piece featured 450 carats of diamonds and 27,000 Swarovski crystals.

“That was one of the most glamorous things I ever got to experience,” Tookes said. “Having a bra molded to my body was absolutely insane, and just the fact that it cost $3 million. That’s never going to happen again.”

Tookes also gave props to Kim Kardashian’s entrepreneurial acumen, noting the natural synergy between Skims and Swarovski.

“She does such an amazing job with design. I think Skims is also very classic, very simple, so adding a little bit of sparkle to it is a really fun twist, especially for the holidays,” Tookes added.

Many, like Paltrow, Erivo and actress Tommy Dorfman were already in town for the CFDA Fashion Awards, which took place the evening prior at the Museum of Natural History. “There’s nothing better than dinner under the whale,” Dorfman said.

A rather quiet red carpet — or in this case, silver platform — eventually erupted into chaos as three crystallized cabs turned the corner. Kardashian’s coach was clearly marked with a vanity plate reading “Kim K.”

As Kardashian emerged from the car, whistles erupted and cameras clicked. Clad in custom crystal chainmail layered over cotton Swarovski x Skims undergarments, the 5-foot, 2-inch mogul was trailed by Hulu cameramen. Hairstylist Chris Appleton fluffed Kardashian’s fringe between photographs.

Upstairs, Champagne was popped and hors d’oeuvres were served in a haze of fog. Teen idols Antonia Gentry and Madelaine Petsch, of “Ginny and Georgia” and “Riverdale” fame respectively, made acquaintance, while Billy Porter greeted Erivo with a kiss on the hand.

A fashionably late Serena Williams stopped by to pay her respects to Kardashian, who presented Williams with the esteemed Fashion Icon Award at the CFDA ceremony on Monday.

Guests enjoyed the musical stylings of DJ Blondish, who, naturally, wore head-to-toe Swarovski x Skims for the celebration. How did the unitard fit? “Like a second skim,” she quipped.
