As Channel 4's popular series The Supervet wrapped up its most recent batch of episodes, viewers were heartbroken when the acclaimed vet, Noel Fitzpatrick, revealed that Thursday, July 11 was the end of road.

In what proved to be a demanding final episode, Noel carried out surgery on Odin, a Caucasian shepherd dog who suffers from a serious condition where malformed vertebrae are putting pressure on his spinal cord.

Noel was frank in explaining the severity of Odin's case to the owner, stating it was "as bad as it gets."

The show also shared the story of Monty, a small toy poodle who had to go through two surgeries after he was attacked by a larger dog. He required an intricate and delicate hip replacement operation - a task that only a limited number of vets could undertake due to Monty's tiny size.

Adding to the tear-jerking narratives, Maya, a Malamute Husky cross, following her encounter with a train accident, successfully received a prosthetic limb and indeed beat the odds to live.

As the emotionally engaging episode marked the end of the series, Noel took to social networking site X, previously identified as Twitter, to convey his appreciation to the viewers.

Noel penned: "Final episode of Series 19 of #Supervet on tonight on @Channel4 at 8pm. Thank you to everyone for your kind words and support, everyone involved in the making of the show hopes you enjoy."

Fans flooded social media after the final episode of Noel's show, expressing their sentiments. One fan gushed: "So sad it's the last episode, it's been great to see you back on TV again, been looking forward to it every week. Going to miss seeing you Noel, hope we'll see you again soon."

Another echoed the same feelings with: "Love watching - sorry it's the last one!" While yet another expressed: "The Finale episode, undoubtedly trailing behind with meaningful tearjerker of unconditional bonding love. Let's all Trio successful outcome."

Others already can't wait for the next series. "Has been a superb series again, absolutely love all the surgery, so interesting and sooo clever roll on the next series!"

It wasn't just the emotional storylines that got attention; Noel's incredible vet work did too. As one viewer stated: "How do we get you a knighthood because you are the most amazing vet I have ever seen in my life! You continually blow me away with your bespoke implants etc.... FANTASTIC!!!".
