Supermarket Boxing Day 2024 opening hours for Aldi, Lidl, Tesco, Asda and more
As we inch closer to Christmas, many of us will have noticed that many supermarkets have switched up their opening hours.
It's a well-known fact that many of them close their doors early on December 24, with the majority remaining closed on the big day itself. However, what about opening hours for Boxing Day?
The day after Christmas is often a time when many of us find we need to run to the shops for essentials such as milk, bread and other staples. With December 26 being classed as a bank holiday, that means popping to the shops might not be so simple.

Since 2020, some supermarkets have opted to keep their doors closed on the day after Christmas, allowing employees the opportunity to spend more time with loved ones. Although, there are a few that remain open, but not at normal times.
To ensure you don't get left without any post-Christmas essentials, here is a handy guide on all the supermarket opening hours across Scotland this Boxing Day. Remember, it's always worth double checking your own store before you head, as they may differ.
Aldi
Aldi has confirmed that it's stores across the whole of the UK will be remaining closed on December 26 this year.
The retailer has said its decision was made to allow staff members the chance to enjoy the holidays with loved ones. Stores will reopen as normal from 8am to 8pm on Friday, December 27.
Iceland
All Iceland stores across Scotland will be closed on Boxing Day once again this year.
The frozen foods supermarket has made the decision for the past four years.
M&S
M&S Food Halls will be remaining closed on Boxing Day this year.
Stores will reopen on December 27, although they will close slightly earlier, with hours running from around 8am to 8pm.
Waitrose
The premium UK supermarket will also be keeping its doors closed on December26 this year, both in Scotland and the rest of the UK.
Shoppers may find some exceptions at certain Shell forecourts that could possibly be open.

Lidl
Lidl stores across Scotland will be re-opening on December 26 to allow customers to get in any essentials after the festivities the night before.
However, the supermarket's opening times on Boxing Day will be at reduced hours, with the firm confirming shoppers to check their local store first, as these may differ.
Tesco
Express stores
Tesco's local stores will be open from 9am to 7pm, although some larger Express stores will close earlier at 6pm.
Superstores and Extra stores
The firm's larger stores will also be open once again on Boxing Day this year, with the majority across Scotland being open from 9am to 6pm.
Sainsbury's
Sainsbury's stores will also be opening up once again on December 26 this year.
Larger stores are set to be open from around 9am to 6pm, with smaller Sainsbury's Local stores opening from 9am to 9pm.
Asda
Asda has confirmed that the majority of its stores across Scotland will be open on December 26 from 9am to 6pm.
Normal operating hours will resume from December 27 until New Year's Eve.
Morrisons
Morrisons will also be operating at reduced hours on the day after Christmas this year.
The majority of stores will remain open from around 9am to 6pm, before reopening as normal from December 27.
