What is Super League Triathlon?

Where’s the next Super League race?

Returning to the streets of London on Sunday 27 August, Super League Triathlon is a free-to-attend, trackside event, where triathlon fans can watch the action within touching distance of the athletes. Hosted at West India Quay, the professional racing starts at 2pm, with the elite women taking to the water first, followed by the elite men – you can sign up for free tickets here.

What are the different race formats in Super League?

One of the unique things about Super League Triathlon is that the athletes race in exciting race formats – not just the traditional swim-bike-run format you might be used to seeing (or competing in) at Sprint, Olympic or IronMan events.

There are three main race formats at Super League events:

Enduro

The Enduro format consists of three back-to-back non-stop mini-triathlons. A 300m swim, 4km bike and a 1.6km run, times three. The winner is the first athlete across the finish line.

Triple Mix

The Triple Mix format shuffles the three disciplines over three stages. The first stage is a 300m swim, a 4km bike and a 1.6km run. The second stage is a 1.6km run, 4km bike and 300m swim. And the final stage is a 300m swim, 4km bike and 1.6km run. Where athletes finish in stages 1 and 2 will define where they start in stage 3, which is a pursuit style start. The winner is the first person across the line at the end of stage 3.

Eliminator

The Eliminator consists of three rounds of swim-bike-run with a short break in between each for the athletes to reset their equipment. The total times from stages 1 and 2 define a pursuit start for Stage 3. But, there’s a twist – the last three athletes across the finish line in stages 1 and 2 are eliminated.

The 2023 Championship Series will use the following formats:

  • London: Enduro

  • Toulouse: Triple Mix

  • Malibu: Eliminator

  • Neom: Enduro
