Summer's Trending Shorts Are Refreshingly Wearable

When it comes to summer staples as crucial as shorts, everyone has their own set of parameters for what these garments must achieve. Are you aiming for maximum coverage or for a leg-lengthening hem on your summery bottoms? Do you want something trendy, maybe celebrity style? Or is comfort the end-all, be-all?

Well, I made it my mission this summer to achieve all of the above with the right pair of shorts. I want to help you do the same.

When it comes to the buzziest shorts trends of 2023, there's truly something for everybody: This summer, we're seeing themes of utilitarianism (such as cargo shorts), ease of movement (biker shorts continue to rule), feminine details (mini skorts and frilly lace bloomers take the spotlight) and comfort (there are long, baggy options aplenty). So, whether you're looking for something to lounge in or to wear to the office, comfortable, easy-to-wear styles are more abundant than ever.

Like it or not, low-rise bottoms have been one of this years unexpected heroes. And that's not changing anytime soon: Launchmetrics found that interest in low-rise shorts, specifically, has increased 156.8% from last June.

Gone are the days when bike shorts were reserved just for... well, biking. Per Launchmetrics, they're the second-most talked-about style of shorts (behind jean shorts) this season.
