Summer Cider Sangria Recipe
There is nothing nicer in the summer than a seat in the sun with friends and a huge pitcher of something cold and fruity. Sangria - made with red wine and brandy - is such a popular choice, but I’ve put a twist on the recipe and made it with the more refreshing apple cider. Here’s how to do it…
You will need:
Cider, 500ml - I used the delicious Chaplin & Cork’s Somerset Vintage Cider (£2 from Morrisons), which is made from pure English apple juice.
Cava, 300ml
Brandy, 150ml
2 Red Apples
1 Lemon
Ice Cubes
First you need to cube your apples (leave sliced portions for decorating your glasses too) and put them in a large bowl.
Cut apples brown very quickly when exposed to the air, so to stop them doing this, you need to coat them in fresh lemon juice.
Once you have done this, layer some of the apple and some ice cubes into the bottom of your pitcher.
Now you need to mix your cider, sparkling wine and brandy together and pour in.
Leave this to soak into the apples for half an hour, add some more ice cubes, serve and enjoy.
