Succession has finally confirmed when season four will drop, and has given us a first trailer to boot.

Just over a year after the last season wrapped in dramatic fashion with the Roy kids getting royally shafted out of company control by Logan (Brian Cox) and Tom (Matthew Macfadyen), the fallout is set to hit our screens very soon.

It has been confirmed that season 4 will premiere on March 27 in the UK on Sky Atlantic, and a day before in the US on HBO.

In the first trailer we see Roman (Kieran Culkin), Shiv (Sarah Snook) and Kendall (Jeremy Strong) try to get in contact with their father, without much luck, while Tom ponders how his shock move in the season 3 finale will affect his relationship with wife Shiv.

"This is not about getting back at dad, but if it hurts him it doesn't bother me," Shiv declares, suggesting that the trio are plotting their revenge – though they are warned that they "cannot win" by Gerri (J Smith-Cameron).

"This is a chessboard, and every move is crucial," Tom later adds.

A synopsis for season 4 reads: "The prospect of this seismic sale provokes existential angst and familial division among the Roys as they anticipate what their lives will look like once the deal is completed. A power struggle ensues as the family weighs up a future where their cultural and political weight is severely curtailed."

Whether the fourth will be Succession's final season is unclear, with executive producer Georgia Pritchett previously suggesting the show won't go beyond a potential fifth run.

Cox recently weighed in on this, suggesting they "don’t want it to overstay its welcome", telling The Times: "No one's had their contracts renewed. Who knows how long it will go on?"

Succession will return on March 26 on HBO in the US, and March 27 on Sky Atlantic and NOW in the UK.
