Tweed and boucle are in the spotlight this summer with the little shift dress, Chanel-inspired jackets and tailored shorts the star buys to invest in. Here's how our Fashion Director styles the trend for now and on into the cooler months...
The Little Tweed Jacket
This will be your new season must-have, perfect for when the temperature cools (but it's not cold enough for a coat) and great dressed up for events, smart for work or relaxed for everyday. Cream tweed with a contrast trim and gold buttons has nautical appeal and will go with everything in your wardrobe. Wear over a T-shirt with vintage blue flared jeans and polished leather accessories.
The Mini Boucle Dress
This mini tweed style was spotted on all the trend setters this summer (especially in the VIP area at Wimbledon) and it is a trend that's here to stay. Self-Portrait's all-sequin ice blue shift is the new party dress we all want. Wear with silver accessories and add a big mob wife fur as winter draws in.
The Tweedy Shorts
Smart shorts work well in a boucle or tweed fabric and will bridge the gap between summer and winter as they work with tights and boots too. For now go for a pair with button detailing and wear with a denim blouse or jacket, pearl accessories and Mary Janes.
