We revisit the evening’s expansive conversation to recap for those of you who couldn’t be there on the trend takeaways of note right now.

ON STARTING YOUR OWN COLLECTION…

I opened our discussion by asking Medley how you start a jewellery collection that feels authentic and true, which looks as though it’s been assembled over time. ‘It’s a personal journey,’ she said. ‘But for me, I'll usually start with a statement piece and curate my collection around that centrepiece.’ Her choice for now? Mejuri’s Puffy Charlotte Ring.

ON BREAKING RULES AND MIXING METALS…

The world’s most stylish women didn’t get such reputations by sticking to the rules, and Medley proves this once again by insisting that you can mix silver with gold as she often does. ‘There’s that traditional rule you can’t mix gold and silver but I do it all the time. I think it’s really chic,’ she insisted. Looking to try this for yourself? Mixed metals are best worn in close proximity in odd numbers, think three stacked rings or hoops travelling up the ear in rotation. Think Bold Huggie Hoops in silver set against slimmer gold Tube Hoops.

ON CREATING A SARTORIAL VISION…

In her work as a red-carpet stylist, working with a plethora of global talent, Medley starts creating the vision by looking at her clients’ style now, and aligning it with trending runways and archive looks, but always retaining a sense of who they are already. Try the same technique for yourself when planning your summer look, as Medley puts it: ‘Somehow it works!’

ON ALWAYS BEING CREATIVE…

For stylists like Medley, who can be up against the tough critics of the fashion media, she reminds us to always have fun and play with fashion. ‘My clients are all so different in heights, physiques, shapes and styles,’ she said. ‘And that's the beauty of it; getting to play around with somebody who allows me to be creative.’

ON DRESSING FOR THE SEASON AHEAD…

Like many of us, Medley is about to take her well-earned summer break and so her immediate fashion thoughts are on her holiday wardrobe. Her top tip? Break away from the everyday and have fun with your style. ‘I try to be a bit more experimental with my jewellery when I’m on holiday and embrace colour with jewel stones,’ she shared. ‘I implement a lot of colours when I’m on holiday and really play around with the colours in my outfit to match with my jeweller, like pairing mother of pearl or turquoise with yellow, one of my favourite colours.’
