This easy-to-make bauble garland would look fabulous running up a bannister, draped over a mantle piece or even wrapped around the Christmas tree.

What you need

How to make a bauble garland

Step 1

Lay out your fairy lights and baubles on the floor to decide how you want your garland to look. Alternating between small and large baubles is a good way to create a balanced look.

Step 2

Attach the baubles to the fairy lights using jewellery wire.
To do this take a lenght of wire (10cm should be more than enough), thread it through the loop at the top of the bauble and then fold each end over the top of the fairy light wire. Poke each loose end back through the bauble and repeat wrapping it over the fairy lights again. Once you feel the bauble is secure twist the ends of the wire together, fold them over and add a tiny dab of glue to cover any loose ends from poking out.

Step 3

Repeat this process all the way along the length of your fairy lights.

Step 4

To add a bit more dimension and sparkle to the garland you can add in wired beads. It's easiest to make the wired bead strands first and then add them in to your garland.
Cut a length of jewellery wire between 15-20cm long and thread a bead onto one end . Hold the bead in place around 5 cm from the end of the wire and thread the wire back through the middle of the bead to secure it in place. Repeat until the bead is completely secure.
Do the same on the other end of the wire with another bead and put a dab of glue on any ends of the wire that might be exposed.

Step 5

Take your wired beads and place them in between the baubles on your garland by wrapping them around the fairy light string. Vary the lengths and directions of the wired beads to give some extra interest to the design.
