Strictly's Wynne Evans says 'I tell you what' after revealing what happened in controversial dance off
Strictly Come Dancing's star Wynne Evans has shared his thoughts on his first dance-off in the competition. On Sunday evening, November 10, the BBC Radio Wales presenter and his dance partner Katya Jones survived a dramatic dance off against the actor and singer Shayne Ward and his dance partner Nancy Xu.
For the dance off, Wynne and Katya performed to Grace Kelly by Mika, while singer and actor Shayne Ward and partner Nancy Xu chose to perform Time After Time by Cyndi Lauper. After a stirring performance by both the couples, judges were split between their choices for the better dancing couple, while admitting there were gaps in both performances. Things did not look good for Wynne and Katya as the first two votes by Craig Revel Horwood and Motsi Mabuse went to Shane and Nancy. However things turned in favour of the Welsh presenter and his partner after Anton Du Beke and head judge Shirley decided to save them.

The couple will now be heading into their ninth week on the programme, which will take place in Blackpool. On his radio show on Monday morning, November 11, the radio host expressed his relief after making it through the next round of the competition.
At the start of the radio programme, he recalled how he felt when he found out that him and Katya were in the dance off. He said: "Happy Monday! Did you have a nice weekend? Nothing much really happened to me. Oh yeah, on Sunday night on Strictly, I was actually on the dance off. And when that light was red - I tell you, oh my word! 'And the first one to face the dance off - Wynne and Katya!' Great, thank you!
"Thank you very much for that. That's great, that's just what I wanted to do." The presenter then went on to say he felt "nervous" but was thrilled with the results. He added: "I mean, what a thrill. I tell you what, I was stood there, right?
"And obviously Craig went with Shayne, Moti went with Shayne, then Anton went with me and then it's just down to Shirley. Oh gosh, tell you what, a little bit of wee did come out.
"I was so nervous - you get so nervous, don’t you? You get so nervous with the old dance off. Anyway, what a thrill, made it through to Blackpool, which is a lovely thing. And Shayne - what a lovely guy Shayne is, what a lovely, lovely bloke, honestly."
The radio presenter also revealed that he was getting "lovely messages" coming through on Monday morning, with one listener praising him and Katya for "keeping Wales on the map". Following from the dance-off, Wynne asked his listeners to share their moments of little wins.
Later on, while talking to a listener, the radio presenter confessed he felt that his dance on Saturday was one of his "strongest ones". He added: "To be fair, I'm not the greatest dancer there, but I'm definitely having the best fun". However, the entertainer's near elimination has sparked some backlash online.
Some Strictly viewers have expressed their disagreement with the judges' decision, with former judge Arlene Phillips also making her opinion known. On Instagram, the English choreographer expressed her discontent with the judges' decision, saying that she believed Wynne Evans and Katya Jones should have left instead.
She wrote: "I disagreed with the @bbcstrictly judges last night on which couple stayed. Watching @shaynetward at the start of the competition I didn't think he would get this far. From being a clumsy dancer last night turned into an actor and a dancer, portraying a beautiful partnership with @nancy_xuxi, the dance felt romantic and true and I was sorry to see this couple go."
But others were also quick to show their support to the Welsh star, with one fan on X saying: "Well deserved Wynne Evans' much better on the night . Love him and Chris so much so happy he made Blackpool".
