Strictly's Karen Hauer says 'I've seen things' as she makes dark hint at victims of show's 'curse'

BBC Strictly Come Dancing star Karen Hauer has hinted that there have been undiscovered victims of the notorious Strictly "curse" that remained out of the spotlight.

The Latin dance specialist, and seasoned professional at 42, who went Instagram official with her new beau early this year, made the surprising confession exclusively to New! magazine that she has "seen things," although she avoided naming names.

The well-documented "Strictly curse" refers to couples who break up after one partner participates in the BBC dance contest; a striking pattern observed since the start of the show in 2004.

Numerous celebrity contestants have ended relationships to be with their dance partners, or vice versa.

One prominent example occurred in 2018 when comedian Seann Walsh was captured locking lips with his dance partner Katya Jones. At the time, he had a girlfriend and Katya was married to fellow Strictly pro Neil Jones.

While discussing the infamous trend, Karen suggested there are countless examples the public isn't privy to. She revealed to New! that there's more going on than viewers realise - cryptically suggesting, "I've seen things. I'm not gonna talk about them. It exists. It's there," before adding, "Whoever wants to go and play, that's there on them."

Karen, the longest-serving pro on Strictly, was quick to clarify that she stays out of such shenanigans, saying she respects her role on the popular BBC show far too much to go down that path.

She also weighed in on the recent controversy surrounding Giovanni Pernice, who sensationally quit the show amid allegations of "abusive" behaviour by his former partner, actress Amanda Abbington. The 33 year old dancer has been grabbing headlines left, right and centre since the accusations surfaced last year.

"We've all just been so busy with our own tours. He's on tour as well," she told New! “So it's been really tough to kind of even, you know, see one another. But you know, he'll definitely be missed."

Her Strictly co-star Gorka Marquez also spoke exclusively to New! and said of the matter: "I don't know anything. I try to stay away from that. Strictly is not on. The only thing I know is I am back and I'm excited that we start very soon."

Following months of intense speculation, it was finally confirmed by the BBC that Giovanni won't be gracing the Strictly ballroom this season. While Giovanni has staunchly denied any wrongdoing, Amanda’s explosive claims have reportedly been corroborated by other ex-partners Giovanni partnered with on Strictly.
