Ever since he first stepped on the dancefloor comedian Chris McCausland has won over the hearts of the nation and the judges on Strictly Come Dancing. He is Strictly's first ever blind contestant and partnered with Australian professional dancer Dianne Buswell.

After his final dance to You'll Never Walk Alone on Strictly Come Dancing Chris left many of the judges, audience members and viewers at home in tears. Becoming tearful, Chris hugged his partner Dianne and admitted he was a “mess” after performing his final routine of Strictly Come Dancing.

Motsi Mabuse said he was not just an inspiration for the blind community, but also “a role model for each and every one of us”, and head judge Shirley Ballas got off her chair to give Dianne a hug and hail her as an “amazing teacher”.

Craig Revel Horwood says his “eyes opened” after visiting the studio to see them train during the final week, and in a move never seen on Strictly Come Dancing also read out a Christmas card poem to the comedian, where he called him a “light that shines for all to see”.

Reading the full poem, Craig said: "In a world of darkness, you've learned to dance and slay with every step you've found your way. You've taught the world anything can be done as long as you don't stick out your bum!

"Those shoulders raised, lack of swing and sway, with every heel lead you discovered the day. A heart that dances pure and free is worth much more than a ten from me and Chris you are a light that shines for all to see."

Everyone was incredibly moved by the poem and all the other judges got up to give Craig a hug, before Craig went and gave Chris a hug. Host Claudia Winkleman went on to say that Chris had "broken" Craig.

Many viewers found the scenes moving, one said on X: "Craig, that message for Chris was absolutely beautiful! How many times can one person have a tear in their eye watching a dance performance?"

Another said: "That poem for Chris by Craig is quite possibly the cutest thing he's everrrrrr done on this show. But still, a 10 from him to Chris is deserved #StrictlyComeDancing #StrictlyFinal."

And: "Still not ok after Craig's poem & his 10 for Chris! #StrictlyFinal". For the latest TV & Showbiz news, sign up to our newsletter.
