Strictly's Angela Scanlon shares her thoughts following show exit
Strictly Come Dancing star Angela Scanlon has shared an emotional message following her exit from the show.
In Sunday night's results show (November 26), viewers saw Angela and professional partner Carlos Gu face Layton Williams and Nikita Kuzmin in the dance-off.
After both contestants performed their routines a second time, it was Angela and Carlos who were eliminated from the competition, after the judges voted to save Layton and Nikita.
In an Instagram post shared today (November 27), Angela reflected on her Strictly journey and sadness at it now being over.
The TV presenter's message was posted alongside a video of her and Carlos sharing their last dance on the floor to 'Rule the World' by Take That.
"Over and out," her caption began. "What a wild ride it’s been, feels like it’s been cut a little short but maybe there’s a bigger plan."
"When I signed up to do Strictly, I hoped I’d leave the show with an arse like Kim Kardashian & a few killer moves for family weddings," she continued. "What I hadn’t anticipated (and maybe it’s still too early to really feel through the sobs) is how much growth there would really be (not just my glutes).
"To get out there every week in front of millions with no control, as a recovering perfectionist, was HARD. To pick up every week and go again was HARD. To receive feedback wasn’t always cute. To juggle and keep the show on the road while trying to nail a Paso Doble was HARD."
Angela went on to praise and thank pro dancer Carlos for his unwavering support throughout.
She said: "But… to dance every week was easy. To feel his belief and faith. To laugh. To pick each other up. To share food & ideas & vulnerability. To stand under the lights with this man’s arm around me, was easy.
"It feels somewhat premature & we had a lot more to give but to have met a soul that knows mine deeply, a heart that is as open, is an absolutely unexpected gift. I feel like the LUCKIEST 💚 @gkx_carlos you are my favourite x"
Angela signed off by acknowledging that there was "so much more to say, and so many more people to thank" but that she was still processing her exit, adding that she was currently "crying in an Epsom salt bath".
"Finally, whose idea was Take That @bbcstrictly ?! It broke us."
Layton and Nikita are one of five couples through to the show's quarter-finals, which will take place this coming weekend.
Strictly Come Dancing airs on Saturdays and Sundays on BBC One, while spin-off Strictly: It Takes Two airs on weeknights on BBC Two. Both shows are available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
