Strictly Come Dancing fans overjoyed at Amy Dowden's return
Strictly Come Dancing spoilers follow.
Strictly Come Dancing fans were overjoyed after Amy Dowden returned to the dancefloor on a full-time basis.
The professional dancer was absent from the BBC show last year as she recovered from breast cancer, though she did occasionally return to the studio throughout the 21st series.
After being introduced by hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman, Amy performed a special routine with her fellow professionals upon her official return to the series in Saturday's (14th September) launch show, and many fans commended the performance.
“Lovely to see Amy Dowden back where she belongs on the dance floor & looking so happy & healthy #Strictly”, wrote one fan on X/Twitter, with another adding: “Can we take a moment to acknowledge how great it is to see Amy Dowden back in her place on #Strictly”
“So lovely to see Amy Dowden back in the spotlight where she belongs. #strictly”, wrote a third fan, with a fourth remarking: “Seeing Amy Dowden back dancing brings me so much happiness #Strictly”
The launch show saw the professional dancers discover which celebrity they would be paired with for the upcoming season, and Amy is set to partner JLS member JB Gill.
"I’m delighted. It just feels like my first year all over again. I just want JB to have the best time and fall in love with dancing", Amy said of her partnership, with JB adding: "She’s brilliant, plus she’s got experience with popstars, so I know I’m in good hands!"
Other pairings for the series include Pete Wicks and Jowita Przystal, Sam Quek and Nikita Kuzmin, Paul Merson and Karen Hauer, Chris McCausland and Dianne Buswell, Montell Douglas and Johannes Radebe, and Tasha Ghouri and Aljaž Škorjanec.
Strictly Come Dancing will return on Saturday, September 14 on BBC One, while spin-off Strictly: It Takes Two airs on weeknights on BBC Two. Both shows are available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
