Strictly’s Amy Dowden breaks down crying on It Takes Two saying she’s ‘heartbroken’ over having to quit show
Beloved Strictly Come Dancing star Amy Dowden has broken down in tears and revealed she is "heartbroken" that she can no longer continue competing with celebrity partner JB Gill in this year's show. The professional dancer, who has a foot injury, spoke to presenter Janette Manrara on Strictly spin-off series It Takes Two on Wednesday 6 November, and started to cry when she spoke about no longer being able to perform on the show.
As she sat on the It Takes Two sofa in a pretty black floral dress, Amy said: "I'm absolutely gutted," and her voice began to wobble as she tried not to cry. "Unfortunately I have an insufficiency stress fracture, which is nothing to do with my injury last year, but it means I need to rest for a couple of weeks." She explained that JB would continue to dance with "the amazing Lauren" and that she hoped she would be back dancing on the show in some capacity soon, "maybe in a group number by the end of the series, fingers crossed." She went on to stress that the injury to her foot could have happened to anybody and was not related to any previous health scares, such as her cancer treatment.
Amy had made a triumphant return to Strictly this year, following treatment for breast cancer, which included a mastectomy followed by chemotherapy.

Chatting to Janette, Amy also revealed she had been speaking regularly to JB and was being kept up to date with how his dance with Lauren was going. The pair will be dancing a Samba to Mas Que Nada by Sergio Mendes this week. "We've spoken a lot and we formed such a lovely friendship," she continued, adding that being back with the Strictly dancers had been "everything" to her this year. Janette also asked Amy what kind of partner Lauren would be getting with JB, and she replied: "Lauren is getting a very kind, very patient partner, and he is so talented and picks up the routines so fast. And most important, he just loves to dance."
She also bravely said: "I only know too well that this too shall pass, and I'll be there cheering everybody on." Janette then introduced a message from JB. He said: "Hey partner, just a little note to say that you're a wonderful teacher, a beautiful soul, and you're gonna be back dancing, better and stronger, very, very soon. Thank you for absolutely everything over the last few months."
