Still Need a Thanksgiving Outfit? Here's Our Foolproof Style Recipe
While I don't love the holiday season per se, I do love dressing for an occasion. Any occasion really. And I would be lying to you if I said that I didn't think Autumn offers seasonal color palette opportunities that can make an outfit really interesting, outside of texture and silhouette, of course. Need a seasonally appropriate dose of outfit inspiration for your fête next week? Allow me to assist. Here, six Thanksgiving outfit ideas, plus what to shop to achieve each look.
Look One
The focal point of this look is of course, the blazer, which has a classic fall plaid in a camel, black, and maroon weave. To keep things cohesive, echo the same color palette as I did with the boots, tights and top, as well as the accessories, for a visual that is cohesive. And for a touch of extra texture, wear a brown corduroy mini— it's the perfect balance to a blazer that is slightly oversized.
Look Two
If you ask me, there is really no time that a Canadian Tuxedo will fail you. You just have to know how to dress it up. For this look, I picked a denim top which had custom beaded detailing, but honestly, you could use a single earring or a brooch to make the neckline a bit more interesting. My go-to belt is leopard print because it's the perfect dimensional addition of neutral tones, and I went for a cable knit sweater because of the subtle textural differentiation. All that's left is a good coat as a dramatic, but clean, finishing touch.
Look Three
Much like the first outfit, the key to nailing this wine-toned look was taking care to echo (if not exactly) the tones in the patterned statement piece throughout my outfit. Given that they were rich and subdued, the texture of the sweater, the corduroy pants, and even the leather loafers really shines.
Look Four
Behold: the perfect fall coat. It is, simply put, Autumnal jacquard perfection. I wear it with everything, but the contrast with the silk mini skirt (sold out, but you can still belt the midi length for a similar effect) with the fluffy, rich cashmere crewneck, and then topped with ornate patterning really wows.
Look Five
Leopard print is really the pattern of the moment, and while I am perennially on board, it's a bit more unexpected in the holiday dressing realm. My suggestion? If you are someone who loves a dark color palette—and really, who could resist layering charcoal, black, and espresso together?— a leopard print car coat is an excellent topper. Should you need a winter accessory like a hat or gloves, I'd go with red to match the powerful statement that the coat makes.
Look Six
Tartan doesn't get the love it deserves and there is simply no better time to add it into your rotation that the holidays. My preferred silhouette is a long skirt paired with tall boots to give a really lengthening line, and then echo with a voluminous and yummy blanket wrap.
