When it comes to finding a good sweatshirt, I unleash my inner Goldilocks. After all, sweatshirts are my go-to for staying warm and comfy when it's cold out, and who wants to settle for something that's too frumpy? Too itchy? Too heavy (or not heavy enough)? You get the idea. I want to live in my sweatshirts, so they have to be just right.

I'm hardly alone in this cozy love affair. Some of my fellow Yahoo shopping editors are also serious sweatshirt and hoodie connoisseurs, so when I decided it was time to refresh my collection, I knew exactly who to ask for their favorite picks. Our merry band of work-from-home fashionistas has plenty of expertise when it comes to comfy clothing. Keep reading to find out which sweatshirts, hoodies and zip-ups we're wearing on repeat.

A classic crewneck that's soft, warm and affordable? Sign us up! Our Gifting Editor, Amanda Garrity, adores this soft cotton-blend pullover. "I regularly wear it with leggings when I'm working from home or heading to a low-impact workout class. But I've also worn them with the matching sweats or with a pair of jeans if I'm heading out of the house."

Amanda has had this staple for over six months and says she's washed it more than a dozen times with no issues. It comes in 13 versatile colors. While the majority are plain solids, a few have an embroidered Gap arch logo. Sizes range from XXS to XXL, and it's available in regular, tall and petite styles.

This sweatshirt falls into the "splurge" category, but Senior Commerce Writer Kristin Granero says it's well worth the price. "I'd rather spend money on practical items that I'll get a lot of use out of than, say, specialty dresses I'll wear for one occasion," she says (good point!). The crewneck is true to size and midweight, which Kristin says makes it a great layering piece. "I can easily layer coats over it, and the roomy-yet-still-fitted style also looks good layered over T-shirts, and tanks. I could probably make it work over a white button-up for a fresh look as well."

She's had the sweatshirt for over a year now, and says it remains "super comfy, with enough weight to add warmth." The laid-back dropped-shoulder fit makes it stylish enough to wear for any casual outing. "I wear it to and from the gym, running errands, taking flights — you name it." She also noted that since it's not too thick, it's easy to roll up and throw in your bag for those days when the weather is finicky. Choose from six neutral colors, all embroidered with the Alo logo, and sizes XXS-2XL.

Even though it's a men's style, this Champion hoodie has been my go-to for years. The boxy shape is perfect for me; it gives me plenty of room — no feeling tight and constricted. The simple design makes it easy to wear with practically everything else in my wardrobe: I've worn it with everything from denim skirts to leggings. The ribbed cuffs keep out the wind, and the fleece lining is so soft and warm.

I also love the oversized hood and spacious kangaroo pocket, which is big enough to hold my phone and wallet (sometimes you just don't want to carry a bag!). I also have this affordable topper in the crewneck style and love it just as much. Choose from 15 solid colors in men's sizes XS-3XL.

If you prefer an oversized, slouchy style, Kristin also recommends this trendy pick from Pink Palm Puff. "If you want to add some color to your sweatshirt collection, Pink Palm Puff's hoodies are having a moment. Aside from the bright shades, each hoodie is embroidered with a beachy scene, floral motif or uplifting phrase," she told us.

Made from an ultra-soft blend of cotton and polyester, this roomy option is great to throw on under your coat on cold winter days and will also make a great lightweight topper for when spring rolls around. Bonus: the cheerful sweatshirts will make you popular with the younger crowd — the brand is TikTok famous and big with Gen Z. Kristin said she and her niece got matching options and "we love to wear it together for lounging." Choose from blue, pink and purple in sizes XXS-XL.

Commerce Editor Saundra Latham told us this polished Athleta option is her favorite because it's warm without being too bulky. "I can wear it over a tank or T-shirt or under a jacket or vest without it feeling too puffy," she said. "It has slits down the sides, which gives your hips a little extra room to move, and it's longer in the back for extra coverage — perfect for pairing with leggings without feeling too exposed."

Saundra also appreciates the "thumbholes that help keep the sleeves down on a particularly cold day." She added that this machine-washable top is "brushed on the inside, so it gives it that extra warm, cozy feel." It's available in sizes XXS-3XL in 15 colors, from neutrals like black and cream to more vibrant options like clover red and juniper green. Bonus: Petite and tall sizes are available too. "It's definitely a basic you'll reach for on a weekly basis," Saundra says, so we wouldn't be surprised if you stock up on more than one.

Looking for a sweatshirt that's a little more polished? Commerce Editor Janelle Randazza suggests checking out this quilted Banana Republic style. "It's pretty basic and lightweight, but the quilting makes me look pulled together when my inner voice says, 'Today I want to be a schlub.'" Janelle says she usually wears it with "higher-waisted jeans and skirts. It looks really cute with a scoop neck T-shirt underneath and just peeking out of the top. It does look good with leggings, but I usually save it for other days."

Not only does this topper make for the ultimate "feel lazy but look like you have your act together" look, it's washer- and dryer-friendly. Janelle says it's holding up beautifully after several washes. Choose from five colors in sizes XXS-XXL.

This full-zip from Lululemon is another pricey option, but Shopping Director Jeanine Edwards says it's so good that it converted her from a hoodie skeptic into a fan. "I usually hate hoodies and find them so uncomfortable because they're tight around the neck and the hood drags it down in the back. But this is the style that changed my mind. It's literally the only hoodie I own — it's that good!"

Made with the brand's popular scuba cotton-polyester blend, the zip-up "feels substantial, and so far it's held up really well over time," Jeanine says. "No pilling or fading or really any signs of wear even though they're in my regular rotation." It has thumbholes on the cuffs to keep the sleeves from riding up, and its elastic zipper pull doubles as an emergency hair tie for those moments when you can't stand your hair on the back of your neck anymore. Genius!

Senior Health Writer Laura Williams knows a thing or two about activewear, so it makes sense that she's a fan of this sporty hoodie. "It's comfortable, casual and the color really makes it stand out. For someone like me who rarely needs a heavy sweatshirt and primarily wears casual athletic wear, it actually feels like a step up from my go-to gear because of its fit and color," she told us.

The unisex style has a relaxed varsity-inspired fit, and it's made with a water-repellant fabric, so it's great for throwing on after sweaty workouts. Laura says she wears this lightweight sweatshirt every week and pairs it with everything from leggings and jeans to sweatpants. Choose from dark blue, light blue and black in sizes S-XXL.
