Starbucks Red Cup Day 2024 is on November 14 — Here's how to get your free holiday cup

If you toss multiple Starbucks cups in the trash every week because of your caramel macchiato habit, it may be time to adopt a more eco-friendly practice. And there's no better time to do it: Starbucks Red Cup Day — the day Starbucks gives its customers free reusable cups — is tomorrow.

Starbucks has pledged to cut waste in half by 2030, and you can help by bringing reusable cups to the store. Read on to find out when you can expect to pick up your free cup at Starbucks this year and how to get it.

When is Starbucks Red Cup Day?

Today, Starbucks announced Red Cup Day is on Thursday, Nov. 14. So if you want the cup, you'll need to carve out some time tomorrow to grab one.

The limited-edition holiday cup comes in Starbucks' 16-ounce Grande size. You never know when stores will run out, so on the big day, we don't recommend waiting until evening to go.

How to get a free Starbucks reusable cup

To snag a free Starbucks cup, all you have to do is order one of this year's eligible drinks (see the full list below) on Red Cup Day in any size. You can get the cup in stores, via the Starbucks app, or via Starbucks delivery on DoorDash, GrubHub or Uber Eats. (Note that the actual drink you order won't arrive in the reusable cup, and will instead be in a plastic or paper cup. The reusable cup will be handed to you in addition to the drink you ordered.)

And that's it — there's no need to say a magic word, swipe a gold card or anything else to get your cup. If you don't receive the free cup with your order, ask a barista whether your drink is eligible or whether they've run out of cups.

If you opt for non-dairy milk in your drink, here's even more reason for holiday cheer: The coffee chain is no longer charging extra for options like oat milk and soy milk.

Aside from preventing more waste, you can also get 10 cents off your order each time you use your cup. And if you're a Starbucks rewards member and you place your order in the Starbucks app, you'll get 25 bonus stars every time you indicate that you're bringing your own cup.
