St. Mary's hosts annual arts fest
May 13—GREENSBURG — If you're walking through the halls at St. Mary's School and the walls are covered in art, there's music coming from the gymnasium, and the giggles of children can be heard in the classrooms you pass, you know it's time for St. Mary's annual Arts Fest.
Thursday evening, led by excited students, families wandered the halls, taking in the inspired artwork posted to the walls and displayed on tables.
The gymnasium featured performances by each grade level: 6th grade band students performing an instrumental selection from the movie "Star Wars," the 7th/8th grade band performing "Ancient Echoes," "Rigadoon," and "The Star Spangled Banner."
Art teacher extraordinaire Carol Blankman recognized various students for their work during the year, and then the 2nd-grade kids got into the act singing and dancing to "Don't Worry 'Bout a Thing."
The kindergarten entertained with an upbeat version of "Hey Bunny," bouncing all around the gymnasium.
After the 3rd grade's rendition of "Made for This," the first grade followed by singing "This Little Light of Mine."
The 4th grade performed "Spring" and then the 5th grade sang the '50s hit "The Lion Sleeps Tonight."
Wrapping up the final number of the evening, everyone joined in singing the school song "God is Good" and then enjoyed popsicles in the cafeteria.
