Squid Game season 3: is 'Jack and Jill' the first game?
If you're just like us, then you've definitely have already completed your Squid Game season 2 bingewatch. Fans can't stop thinking about that heartbreaking finale that not only left Gi-hun back to square one, but hinted at a much more dangerous future with its mid-credits scene that definitely has us all trying to figure out what is coming up next.
With the Front Man back behind-the-scenes of the game and the final season still in the works, things are definitely going to come a head very soon. But fans think they already have a good idea at the mysterious first game that is being played.
Here's why fans think Jack & Jill is coming to Squid Game season 3.
Where did this theory even start?
In the mid-credits scene of season 2 of Squid Game, we see new players entering a brand new arena where we see Young-hee from the Red Light, Green Light game and her "boyfriend," Cheol-su.
Creator Hwang Dong-hyuk previously told Entertainment Weekly that it's a "hint at the most exciting game in season 3 as well. So, while it hasn't been shared yet, I hope everyone will be excited to meet Cheol-su and the new game."
However, the official game has not been revealed yet, but it presumed to be a twist on Red Light, Green Light as a railroad track light went from red to green at the end.
Wait, how did fans guess that the next game will be Jack & Jill?
Some people on TikTok and Reddit quickly guessed that the game would be Jack & Jill based off of seeing Cheol-su and Young-hee. The game is based off the nursery rhyme of the same name that starts off with:
Jack and Gill went up the hill
To fetch a pail of water;
Jack fell down and broke his crown
And Gill came tumbling after.
The belief is that players will have to pair up and bring water up and down to fill up something at the end. However, it will be mixed with Red Light, Green Light and they won't be able to move unless they have the green light.
So, is it true? Are they really playing Jack & Jill in Squid Game season 3?
Creator Hwang Dong-hyuk hasn't officially revealed any of the games in Squid Game season 3, so it's all still speculation and fan theories. However, one big thing that fans have been pointing out is the games we've seen so far have all been based off of traditional Korean children's playground games.
As Jack & Jill is based off of an English nursery rhyme, there's a high chance that it will not be played as it doesn't fit what we've seen from games in the past. However, it's safe to say that whatever this new game is, it's deadlier than anything we've seen. After all, the Front Man will be out for revenge.
