Spice Girls give David Beckham sweet nickname as they send birthday wishes

The Spice Girls have wished David Beckham a happy birthday in the most epic way possible - by unofficially inducting him into the iconic group. The footballer turned 49 on Thursday, receiving birthday messages from his many celebrity pals.

David, who's married to Posh Spice herself Victoria Beckham, received an extra special birthday wish from the official Spice Girls Instagram account. The chart-topping group posted a photo of David wearing a Spiceworld Christmas jumper and posing with his arms outstretched.

The champions of Girl Power also joked that David is always on hand to give support on social media - and even gave him an adorable new nickname. They wrote: "Happy Birthday to our unofficial social media manager and one of the original Spice Boys," alongside a winking emoji and a red heart emoji.

This post came after Victoria had already expressed her love for her Spice Boy husband, whom she has been married to since 1999. The singer-turned-designer celebrated her own milestone 50th birthday last month with a lavish party in London attended by A-list guests including Tom Cruise and Eva Longoria, reports the Mirror.

Vicky penned a heartfelt tribute to her hubby David on his birthday, saying: "Happy birthday David. I love us getting really old together! You aren't far behind me! ! ! ! You are our everything! ! ! ! The best daddy and husband we all love u so so much xxxxx @davidbeckham @brooklynpeltzbeckham @romeobeckham @cruzbeckham #HarperSeven."

The power couple are proud parents to their brood of four: Brooklyn, 25, Romeo, 21, Cruz, 19, and little Harper Seven, who's just 12.

David's children didn't hold back on the affection either, with Brooklyn posting an adorable throwback photo of him perched on his dad's shoulders during a football match, captioning it: "Happy birthday to the best dad in the world x love you so much dad."

Romeo followed suit with a nostalgic picture, adding: "Happy birthday dad thank you for everything love you always + forever."

Cruz joined in with a series of snaps on his Instagram Stories, opting for a simple yet sweet "Happy Birthday" message. Harper, still too young for social media, was undoubtedly part of the celebrations offline.

Even Manchester United, where David rose to fame, joined the chorus of well-wishers, sharing a post with the words: "Wishing a very happy birthday to @DavidBeckham," accompanied by a number seven emoji and a party face emoji.

Last month, Victoria Beckham honoured her hubby in a heartfelt message during her 50th birthday celebrations. Sharing her thoughts with her online followers, she expressed: "I believe that you can be many things. A pop star, a mother, a wife, a designer...

"My passion has always been to dream big, then dream even bigger! Believe in yourself first - everyone else will follow. And if you're really lucky, you'll find someone who believes in you even more than you do. @DavidBeckham, I'm forever grateful for your unconditional love and support, and for our beautiful children."
