Sorry Chanel, Bethenny Frankel Shows Some Valentine’s Day Love for Talbots

Carrot ginger soup and a white sweater are not always the best combination, as Bethenny Frankel made clear with her Thursday afternoon TikTok. After spilling the orange broth “all over every part” of her outfit at the Peacefood Cafe in Manhattan, the entrepreneur buzzed by a Talbots store on the Upper West Side for a quick change.

The former “Real Housewives of New York City” star picked up black jeggings, a white denim jacket and a blue wash one, a slim black leather belt, an ivory loop stitch sweater, and a spring pink ombré scarf. And in advance of Valentine’s Day, Frankel swooped up Talbots’ ivory cardigan that is embroidered with red hearts and an Elsa Peretti-type gold open heart pendant necklace. Frankel was not paid for the TikTok post, a spokesperson for the 500-store company said Friday.

Frankel didn’t just share some love for the brand by showing off her finds, but she also turned the camera on a Talbots salesperson, whom she called “a doll.” Frankel added, “She let me in. Chanel doesn’t let me in but Talbots lets me in.”

That swipe was in reference to Frankel being turned away by a salesperson at the Chanel boutique in Chicago in May. In a post about that encounter, which has amassed 18.2 million views, the former Bravo reality star and Skinny Girl founder said the salesperson had asked if she had an appointment. “I’m like, ‘No, I don’t have an appointment. I have a credit card. I have a bag of Garrett’s popcorn and a basic b—h purse. Am I not allowed to come in at 3:54 [p.m.] on a Tuesday?’” she said, “Evidently not, I don’t have an appointment, and to be treated like an interloper. I’m just walking down the street, opening up a door to walk into a store. I thought that’s what happened. I didn’t realize that we’re not allowed to walk into stores anymore.”

After being left out on the sidewalk at the Chanel store in Chicago last spring, Frankel returned the following day dressed “like a wealthy person” and sailed right in. That post racked up 24.5 million views.

Chanel could not be reached immediately Friday afternoon for comment.

Interestingly, her post from the Talbots store Thursday included a flash of a Chanel logo on what looked like a well-worn accessory. The Talbots salesperson scored extra points from Frankel for giving her a few Shout stain removal wipes for any future spills. And apparently, she hasn’t sworn off soup, having also posted a TikTok video of herself trying sour plum soup at Jade Nails & Spa Thursday afternoon. As for her haul, Frankel took a selfie wearing the brand’s black jeggings Thursday night.
