I’ll be the first to admit that, despite being a fashion writer, I spend most of my life in sweats, especially once it gets cooler. Any semblance of “style” is thrown out the window the moment I can walk to get my morning coffee bundled up in clothes that are essentially pajamas. And, often, the end result is a lot more drab than fab. Thankfully, Sophie Turner just gave a masterclass in making my lazy-girl staples chic.

While out in New York City, the Game of Thrones star managed to dress up some of the most dressed-down pieces. On the bottom, she wore gray, wide-leg trousers and what looked to be Salomon sneakersgorpcore’s official introduction to the business casual staple. On top, her classic gray hoodie peeked out from under her long, black topcoat. The end result was practical yet elevated, making me realize the high-low pairing might be winter’s chicest, most wearable duo.

Turner might be joining Jennifer Lawrence, who has also worn the comfy-chic pairing, as my everyday style icon, with her loungewear-made-fashion look immediately jumping to the top of my winter inspo board.

A hoodie on its own is, well, just what is. I constantly wear one, but I won’t act like it’s a choice I made in the name of style. But a hoodie with a slightly oversized coat? That’s a whole other story. The opposite pieces expertly balance one another; the hoodie becomes less casual while the topcoat becomes more everyday.

What’s more, often if you want to look more put together, you have to ditch ultra-casual pieces altogether. But with Turner’s duo, you still get to rock that ultra-comfy, lazy-day essential, but with a touch of sophistication and added warmth (looking at you, topcoat).

Not only am I loving how effortless the final outfit looks, but I also adore how simple it is to recreate. It’s a two-part outfit you probably already have in your closet. But in case you don’t — or could use a new hoodie or jacket you’ll wear all winter long — we found everything you need to get Turner’s look, below.
