Snowbombing 2015: Snowbody Does It Better

Say goodbye to sleep...

Now in its fifteenth year, Austria’s Snowbombing is showing no signs of slowing down – here’s what we learned from our three days at the best show on snow.

The Place

Mayrhofen, Austria - around an hour from the capital Innsbruck. We flew into Munich then it was a mere two and a half hour coach journey to our destination.

The Vibe

Laidback by day, raucous by night. Snowbombers possess the unique talent of being able to get up for a full days skiing or boarding despite the strong likelihood that they’d only made it to bed mere hours before.

While this is no mean feet (trust us, we did it), it is the only way to get the full bombing experience.

Acts this year included Rudimental, Fat Boy Slim, Bassment Jaxx, Sigma and Subfocus - all putting on mind-blowing sets into the early hours. So as you can imagine, the atmosphere is nothing short of electric.

The Downtime

If you somehow manage to get up in time for the first lift, grabbing a coffee from the one of the mountain top bars and taking in the breathtaking scenery really is quite something. It’s also one of the few moments of real solitude you’re likely to get once the day really gets going.

Without a doubt, the Arctic Disco. We mean, how many people can honestly say they’ve partied in mountain top igloo?

Arriving just in time to watch the sun set over the incredible surrounding mountain tops, make sure to grab a hot cup of gluhwein before making your way into the igloo itself to party into the night.

Exhilarating. Energetic. Exhausting. Snowbombing is not for the faint-hearted festivalgoer – but chances are, if you’ve booked a ticket, you wouldn’t have it any other way. A unique, full on, and above all, fun experience. Just be sure to take the following week off work to recover.

The Deets

Prices start from only £334 for 5 nights' accommodation and festival wristband. For more information visit the official Snowbombing site.
