Sniffies sees 26% spike in straight users – plus 4 more insights from cruising app’s 2024 data
Sniffies has shared an array of end-of-year insights into the sexual preferences of its user base.
The map-based cruising platform for gay, bi, and curious guys launched in 2018.
According to creators, Sniffies creates a ‘no-holds-barred digital space where users are encouraged to explore their sexual desires, kinks, and fantasies free of judgment or shame.’
Earlier this year, the founder and CEO of Sniffies, Blake Gallagher, told Attitude: “We wanted to capture the essence of cruising — the thrill of exploration and unpredictable encounters — while addressing the safety concerns of traditional cruising.”
Sniffies’ data reveal comes the same month as Grindr and PornHub shared similarly fascinating insights into our sexual preferences this year.
Here, we take a look at five key insights into the data snapshot…
1) This year saw a 26% rise in ‘straight’ users on Sniffies
Like it or loathe it, the reality is more and more men who have sex with men are identifying as straight – and denying this reality potentially precludes them from conversations around HIV prevention and PrEP.
2) Versatility came out on top
According to Sniffies, versatile was the world’s most popular sexual position. Although, there has apparently been a sharp rise in bottoms and sides this year.
3) Edging was the most popular kink
Edging, if are you didn’t know, is the act of holding an orgasm and then releasing it, leading to a more pleasant orgasm. (As per Urban Dictionary.)
4) New York City was the most chatty
NYC sent the most messages this year. Meanwhile, cities that showed the most growth in users include Calgary in Canada, Melbourne in Australia, and Madrid in Spain.
5) The average reported penis size is up 3%
